Straight Through The Heart

So most of you know that I have been separated from the family since the end of February while we wait for our house to sell. Friends make things easier but it's still brutally hard. I got to see them last weekend but I don't have any PTO time built up so any day I take off I have to take unpaid. That sucks.

I find out yesterday, that this coming Friday is the "Father Daughter Dance" at Bailey's school. Why don't you just plunge a foot long knife right through my chest. No, really. Right here. Don't miss any major arteries, please.

If you're not a guy with a daughter, you probably don't really know how this gets you. Last year, I took Bailey (who was 5 at the time) on a "date". We got all dressed up, had a very nice restaurant lunch, and then went to see "The Nutcracker". She loved it. To me, it's one of the major memories of my life. Last month, I missed her first school play. You know, the one where she dresses up like something and has one line? That still haunts me and will probably continue to do so into my babbling, drooling, elderly years.

I currently looking for a way to get home for this dance. The wife thinks it's stupid and a waste of money. She doesn't get it. 10 years from now I won't give a flying frak about the money. My co-worker Tom and I were discussing potential losses in our real estate holdings and he quite wisely said "...about money? Yeah, I might lose some, but I can always make more."

Here's Your Fifth Cylon

Laura Roslyn will be the fifth Cylon. Bet me.

Why? There were a few clues in this last week's episode and prior. The big one was the fact that Lucy Lawless' Number Three recognized one of the last five and pretty much apologized to the hooded figure. I take that to mean the shit that they gave Roslyn. Also, when Roslyn confronted Six in the brig, Six said "the five are close". Duh. That's the writers being coy.

Lastly, I have always hated Roslyn's character. Without doubt, she is the most smug and arrogant character on the show. No one will care that she ends up being the final Cylon.

Thoughts?
